Terms of use

Who we are

Worthwatt, run by the Worthwatt team, runs worthwatt.co.uk. You can contact us through our contact page.

By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

What the site is for

Worthwatt publishes general information about solar panels, home batteries and export tariffs in the UK: what they cost, whether they could pay back, and how to check a quote. It is not advice for your own home or circumstances.

Figures in our guides come from the sources listed on each guide, or are our own calculations from them, and are dated. Prices, tariffs, grants and rules change, so check the current position before you decide anything. Where a decision involves law, tax, finance, a contract or the structure of your home, take advice from someone qualified to look at your situation. How we check our figures is explained on our methodology page.

Estimates and the battery planner

Estimates on the site, including the results of the battery planner, are averages or illustrations for homes like the one described. They are not predictions or guarantees of what you will pay, save or earn. The planner runs in your browser and works from the answers you give it. Its results depend on those answers, on our assumptions and on the limits of its model, which are set out on the planner page.

Quote requests

If you ask for a quote, we look for an MCS-certified installer who covers your area. We only pass your details to an installer if you agree, and only to the one installer we name to you. We do not charge you for this. The installer pays us a fee for each introduction. How we handle your details is set out in our privacy policy.

We cannot promise that an installer will cover your area or will offer you a quote. Any contract for work is between you and the installer. The installer is responsible for its quote, its work and its own terms, and we are not a party to that contract.

Pages link to the official sources behind their figures and to other websites. We are not responsible for the content of websites we do not run, and a link does not mean we endorse a business.

Our content

The text, tables, charts and tools on the site belong to Worthwatt unless a page says otherwise. You may read, share links to and quote short extracts from our pages, with a link back to the page. Please do not copy whole pages or republish our content without our permission.

Our responsibility to you

We take care to keep the site accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee that every page is complete, current or free of errors. If you spot a mistake, please tell us through our contact page.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited or excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or of our failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable. The site is for domestic and private use, so we are not responsible for any business losses.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your own courts.
